Introduction
BrentNET is an exploration of what happens when the principles that made Signal and BitTorrent revolutionary are applied across the broader Internet and computing ecosystem.
Signal demonstrated that private, secure communication can be simple and accessible.
BitTorrent demonstrated that distributed systems can be powerful, resilient, and owned by their users rather than centralized providers.
BrentNET asks a simple question:
What would the Internet look like if those principles were applied everywhere?
What if communication, storage, identity, computing, and digital services were secure, private, distributed, and controlled by the people who use them?
That is the question BrentNET exists to explore.
Current Status
BrentNET is currently in early alpha development.
The first public prototype enables human-readable BrentNET addresses such as:
- home.brent
- corp.brent
The project is experimental and under active development.
Current releases should be considered proof-of-concept technology intended to validate ideas, test architecture, and gather feedback.

BrentNET is built around several core beliefs.

Why Build It?
I remember a web that felt open.
Personal.
Creative.
Free.
I remember a time when individuals built websites because they had something to say, not because an algorithm rewarded them for saying it.
I remember a time when users felt like participants rather than products.
Much of that spirit still exists, but it has become harder to find.
I believe technology can do better.
I believe users deserve better.
And I believe there is still room for experimentation.
I want that web back.
I couldn’t find the version I wanted again.
So I’m rebuilding it.
